Case Studies

Below is a list and review of things I have taken part in and a look behind the scenes of how I got involved, how things went and my thoughts and retrospective.

ESET Webinar: The Art of Cyberwar

19th January 2023: 2pm

I undertook the webinar via the GoToWebinar platform. I enjoyed talking about how governments, law enforcement agencies, the police and the wider cyber security community should work closely together and share best practice and insights to help combat the growing cyber threat.

This was something that resonated well with the webinar’s audience who were very engaged with the content and asked some questions when my talk was over about fostering greater collaboration in the industry.

Deskflix Event: Hybrid & Multi-Cloud

22nd February 2023: 10:15am

In January 2022 I was approached by one of the agencies I am represented by for speaking engagements, Riva Media, to ask if I would be interested in being a speaker for Computing Magazine’s event Deskflix 2023: Hybrid and Multi Cloud season 1.

I was already aware of the Deskflix series of events so I said a definite yes to this, and my agent Harry Gibson set up a call with me and Elizabeth Burgess who is one of the event organisers so I could understand more about the event and their requirements.

Webinar for Thrive Mental Health and Neurodiversity

Different Voices, Different Perspectives: The Importance of Neuroinclusion in the Workplace”

22nd February

I am a qualified Mental Health First Aider and I first undertook this certification in November 2020. I firmly believe that every organisation should have a mental health first aider just as they have regular first aiders, but mental health is often still stigmatised in many organisations. I chose Thrive Mental Health and Neurodiversity to do my mental health first aider training with, and through this I got to know Simon Nichols, the Managing Director of Thrive. To keep my mental health first aider certification up to date I undertook a refresher course with Thrive in early January 2022, and at the same time Simon asked me if I would be interested in delivering a lunchtime webinar for Thrive.

Bespoke Webinar for ISACA

Avoiding Overload: Managing Stress and Burnout in Cyber Security

Bespoke Webinar for ISACA

Avoiding Overload: Managing Stress and Burnout in Cyber Security

I have known Mike Hughes, the Chairperson of the UK Chapter of ISACA for a number of years and have already done two bespoke webinars for ISACA talking about mental health in cyber security. Mike approached me in January 2023 to ask if I would deliver another webinar for ISACA taking about how to manage stress and burnout and avoid overload.

I have regular catch up calls with Mike as I try to support ISACA and their activities as often as I can, and Mike has been very supportive to me and the work I do in the cyber security industry. We booked in call to agree a date and time for the webinar, and to go through how the webinar would look.

International Imposter Syndrome Awareness Day

How I Put Together and Managed a Programme of Virtual Events for This Awareness Day

In 2021 I co-founded International Imposter Syndrome Awareness Day, or #IISAD for short, with Nat Schooler and Kim Adele.

We launched it on April 13th 2021 in response to the rising number of people impacted by Imposter/Impostor Syndrome, to empower people to learn more about the phenomenon and to provide free resources and support to help with managing it.
