Announcing Being a Finalist in the Prestigious National Cyber Awards 2025

I’m absolutely delighted to share that I’ve been selected as a finalist in the “Cyber Citizen of the Year” category at this year’s National Cyber Awards. This marks the second year running that I’ve been recognised in this prestigious category, and I couldn’t be more honoured.

Being chosen to represent the best of the UK’s cyber security industry alongside some of the most leading and influential professionals in our field is truly humbling. Last year, I was awarded “Highly Commended” in the 2024 awards in the “Cyber Citizen of the Year” category, so naturally I’m hoping to take home the winner’s title this time around!

Reflecting on My Journey

When I transitioned into cyber security back in 2009, joining the Worcester-based cyber security software development company Titania Ltd, the industry was still in its infancy. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of watching our sector grow and evolve as we’ve all worked together to develop new ways to keep people safe from the ever-growing cyber threat landscape.

The challenges we face today are more complex than ever, especially with the emergence of new and evolving cyber security threats that come from developments in artificial intelligence. This is precisely why I’m working on the AI and Cyber Security Association – to ensure we’re addressing these critical intersections head-on.

The Importance of Recognition

As digital threats continue to rise and AI growth happens exponentially, the importance of cyber security cannot be overstated. We’ve already seen numerous high-profile cyber attacks in 2025 alone, targeting major retailers like Marks & Spencer, the Co-Op, Harrods, and North Face. These incidents remind us why our work is so vital.

The National Cyber Awards, now in their seventh year with headline sponsor BAE Systems, represent a hallmark of excellence in our industry. It’s wonderful to see Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer recognising the importance of our work, noting that these awards “are a wonderful way to reward, celebrate and showcase the work of those who are committed to keeping us safe.”

Looking Ahead

The awards ceremony takes place in London on September 29th, 2025, the Monday evening before the annual International Cyber Expo. I’m looking forward to celebrating not just my own recognition, but the achievements of all the nominees who are working tirelessly to secure our digital landscape.

Whether I win or not, being recognised alongside such incredible professionals in categories ranging from “Cyber Student of the Year” to “The Prime Minister’s Award for Cyber” is an honour in itself. We’re all united in our mission to safeguard cyberspace against evolving threats, and that collective effort deserves celebration.

Thank you to everyone who has supported my journey in cyber security. Here’s to continuing our vital work in keeping the digital world safe for everyone.
